The British Open 2024 promises to be an exciting event with top seeds Ali Farag and Nour Elsherbiny leading the charge. It’s particularly noteworthy that Farag will defend his title after an exceptional performance in last year’s championship.

Among the new faces, Jonah Bryant’s inclusion as one of the wildcards adds an element of anticipation, especially considering his recent success on the Challenger Tour. His debut appearance in the British Open will surely be one to watch.

The women’s draw also features some intriguing matchups, with Nouran Gohar, Hania El Hammami, and others aiming to make their mark on the tournament. With a mix of seasoned professionals and rising stars, the competition promises plenty of excitement and surprises.

It’s events like these that showcase the depth and talent within the squash world, and fans will be eagerly anticipating the action on the all-glass show court in Birmingham’s Rep Theatre and the Edgbaston Priory Club.

Since last year’s victory, Farag has reached the final in all but one of the 15 events that he has played in, winning in 10 of those finals. The World No.1 recently claimed his 40th PSA win in El Gauna.

It was during last year’s British Open that Peruvian Diego Elias achieved his childhood dream to become World No.1. The 27-year-old was guaranteed to rise to the summit after Gawad downed Mohamed Elsherbiny in round three.

The man who has most recently overtaken Elias is No.4 seed Mostafa Asal. Also, a former World No.1, Asal has returned to form in recent months under the guidance of James Wallstrom.

The World No.4 finds himself in the same half of the draw as No.2 seed Paul Coll and will still have the London Classic final on his mind as he seeks revenge.
