Everton missed out on late signing of “fantastic” Premier League player.

With their 10-point deduction, potential second Profit and Sustainability charge, and ongoing takeover problem, the Blues eventually had a very low-key January transfer window. They did not sign any new players. The Blues fan base will probably have been extremely irritated by that, but it seems sense that owner Farhad Moshiri chose not to upset the apple cart any further given his hopes to sell up quickly.

That’s not to say that a number of other players weren’t mentioned in connection with late-day transfers to Everton, with Ajax striker Chubby Akpom being one such late-entry target. In one deadline-day rumor, Leicester City defender Harry Soutter was mentioned as a possible replacement for Ben Godfrey, a player for the Blues. There was also talk of an unidentified signing. Nonetheless, he remained at Goodison Park, reducing the requirement for defensive reinforcements. Another name has surfaced in relation to late business that Everton was unable to complete, since they were unable to get a fellow Premier League player.

“Poland international Moder has been utilized as a wide midfielder by De Zerbi and former head coach Graham Potter, just a few games into his recovery from nearly two years out with major knee damage. In the closing moments of the window, Everton expressed interest in lending money to Moder, but that was turned down.

Even though it might not have been the most revolutionary move, Moder could have been a wise addition for the Blues if they had been able to finalize a contract. His knee ailment has limited his impact this season.
