Newcastle submits ‘offer’ to sign versatile attacker impressing in Germany – Report

We brought you rumors earlier this week from Sky Germany indicating Newcastle was interested in 18-year-old forward Can Yılmaz Uzun, who plays for Nürnberg in the German second division.

A few days later, Newcastle is reportedly one of four teams vying for Uzun’s signature, with talks over a potential €10 million move having been held, according to Turkish publication Fanatik.

The striker is said to have “received offers” from Borussia Dortmund, Brighton, Frankfurt, and us.

Uzun reportedly stated that a January transfer would be difficult but responded with “we’ll see” when asked if he will leave Nürnberg in the summer, according to Sport Witness. The German team has a contract with the player, who scored twice in Nürnberg’s victory on Saturday, through 2027.

It’s obvious the club is eager to attract elite young talent to Tyneside after past deals for Yankuba Minteh and Garang Kuol, as well as a recent agreement for Man City youth Alfie Harrison.
