concluded deal: have £35m sign contract with striker…

OIi McBurnie reacts as Leeds United agree terms for last-ditch Connor Roberts signing, names Pavel Nedved.

After Leeds United announced that Connor Roberts had signed on Deadline Day, Oli McBurnie, a striker for Sheffield United, responded.

The right-back is on loan from Burnley to the Elland Road team through the end of the season [official Leeds website, 1 February].

This season, the 28-year-old made 16 appearances for the Clarets across all competitions, 14 of which were in the Premier League.

Roberts posted pictures of himself at Elland Road on Instagram along with the caption, “New chapter: Leeds United,” expressing his happiness at joining Leeds.

Sheffield United striker McBurnie was one among the people who left a comment on the social media post, saying, “All the best Pavel Nedved boy.”

Roberts’ signing should excite Leeds supporters much as the right-back will undoubtedly aid in their promotion campaign.

With his extensive experience at both the club and international levels, he could be able to start for Daniel Farke at right back right away.

Archie Gray, a young player, has excelled in that capacity this season, but Roberts’ arrival might allow him to revert to his typical defensive midfield position.

Leeds has had a lot of turnover at right-back recently. Luke Ayling and Djed Spence left Elland Road for the Whites in January. The latter is currently at Genoa after his loan from Tottenham was terminated, while the former has moved to Middlesbrough on loan. Nevertheless, Farke now has a very capable team at his disposal, and by the end of the Championship season, this team ought to be fighting for promotion.
