With Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gueye, Everton suffers a “blow.”
With the bans of Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gueye, Everton has suffered a setback after their recent 2-0 victory against Chelsea on December 10.
Journalist Paul Brown muses over how the Goodison Park team can manage without them.
Toffees manager Sean Dyche’s team has been dominant in the early winter months, even after the Premier League docked them ten points for not meeting profit and sustainability standards.
Everton hopes to escape the pursuing group and allay any anxieties about being demoted to the Championship,, despite the fact that they have been drawn into a relegation race due to their point deficit. Despite a difficult December ahead of them, the Merseyside team is certain that they can finish with a reasonable number of points in January.
Concerns about Branthwaite and Gueye’s absence at Everton
Everton has been playing at a very high level since the Premier League docked them ten points, even though they lost 3-0 to Manchester United on November 26.
The Toffees defeated Newcastle United at home and Nottingham Forest away to earn six points out of six heading into their match at Goodison Park on December 10.
It is therefore not surprising that Everton defeated Chelsea 2-0, with goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin in the second half securing the three points.
Gueye, however, received his fifth yellow card of the season for his first-half booking, meaning he would miss their December 16 trip to Burnley due to a one-game suspension.
Dyche said the Senegal international appeared worn out and fatigued; therefore,, he was replaced at halftime.
At Goodison Park, Branthwaite also received his fifth yellow card of the year, so Dyche will be missing two important players when he visits his old team.
The center defender is now at the top of Manchester United’s transfer shortlist, according to a recent TEAMtalk report.
According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Everton should ask for £50 million to open Branthwaite’s winter transfer window, GIVEMESPORT reported on December 7.
But Dyche needs to think about who will start in place of Branthwaite and Gueye against Burnley, since the £115,000-a-week pair was instrumental in the Toffees’ recent success.
