When Penn State football plays Ohio State on November 23, it will in fact be facing a genuine Heisman Trophy contender.
According to reports, Chase Young, the standout defensive end for the Buckeyes, who had 14 sacks at the halfway point of the current season to lead the country, will miss two games due to his acceptance of a financial loan.
He completed serving his ban at Ohio State’s game this weekend against Rutgers, having completed the first game against Maryland.
Next week, when the Buckeyes take on James Franklin’s team, he will be back in the starting lineup.
“I accepted a loan from a family friend I’ve known since the summer before my freshman year at OSU,” the standout defensive end tweeted.
The loan was fully repaid last week. ESPN claims that Young took out the loan to cover his girlfriend’s airfare to the Rose Bowl game between the Buckeyes and Washington during the previous season.
Last year, Penn State was fortunate to have a standout defensive end from Ohio State. However, this year, that will not be the case.
The No. 2 overall choice in the 2019 NFL Draft, Nick Bosa, had season-ending surgery on his core muscles, which prevented him from participating in the 2018 White Out.
At AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, during Ohio State’s victory over TCU, Bosa sustained the injury.
Strangely, Young filled in for Bosa during the 2018 Nittany Lions vs. Buckeyes game, finishing with six tackles, two sacks, and three stops for a loss of gain.
The game-ending stop on Miles Sanders’ fourth and fifth runs late in the fourth quarter was one of his three TFLs.
On November 23, at noon, No. 9 Penn State (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) and the second-ranked Buckeyes (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten) will play each other.
As part of FOX’s new “B1G Noon Saturday” promotion, which debuted this year, the game will be shown nationally.
