Swerve Strickland Shares His Thoughts on Shelton Benjamin Signing
It’s time to give credit to Shelton Benjamin, the manager’s ally, before tensions escalated between him and Swerve Strickland. It’s now only a matter of time before the two wrestlers face off, and Strickland is eager to compete against another wrestler he admired growing up
“It feels surreal. Over the past year, I’ve had matches with RVD, a childhood hero, Jeff Hardy, another childhood hero, and Bryan Danielson at Wembley. These are guys I’ve been watching since I was a kid,” Strickland shared at the WrestleDream post-show media scrum.
“I’ve wrestled Shelton before, but doing it on this new platform is different. AEW does a fantastic job bringing in these legends and reigniting their careers. For Shelton, it’s going to be a real treat for AEW fans.”
Benjamin made his AEW debut during the fifth-anniversary edition of “AEW Dynamite” and renewed his partnership with MVP. The two were part of WWE’s Hurt Business faction, alongside Cedric Alexander and Bobby Lashley.
It’s expected that a version of the group will continue in AEW. While Lashley is reportedly signed with AEW, it remains uncertain when he’ll appear on TV. However, if he does show up, it’s unlikely he’ll align with Strickland, as the former World Champion has clearly distanced himself from MVP’s associates.
