Tragically news: Paul McCartney daughter Stella McCartney have just announced dead this morning due to terrible car crashed with………

Sir Paul McCartney paid a touching tribute to music icon Marianne Faithfull after her death at the age of 78. The singer and actress rose to fame in the 1960s for her song ‘As Tears Go By’, which was written by The Rolling Stones’ Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Marianne was born in Hampstead but was brought up in Ormskirk, West Lancashire while her dad was working on a doctorate at the University of Liverpool. But her connections with our region went beyond that – her highly publicised relationship with the Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger meant Marianne was in similar circles as The Beatles when the two bands were at the centre of the pop music world.

The Beatles and the Stones were good friends – Paul McCartney and John Lennon had even written the Stones’ first hit for them – 1963’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’. This meant Marianne knew the band pretty well – she covered some of their songs, including ‘Yesterday’ and can be heard on the recording of ‘Yellow Subma.
