Lincoln Riley is heading to USC from Oklahoma.

On Saturday, Lincoln Riley announced that he would not be LSU’s next head coach.

Regarding USC, he said nothing.

After Yahoo’s Pete Thamel revealed that the Trojans were closing in on Riley, On3’s Matt Zenitz revealed on Twitter a few minutes later that Riley had really told his OU staff that he was taking the head coaching position at USC.

Joe Castiglione, the athletic director at Oklahoma, did not come back.

Other program insiders, including ESPN pundit Dusty Dvoracek, a former Sooner defensive lineman, have also started to report on the matter.

The timing of Riley’s alleged departure is intriguing since, according to a source who spoke with SI Sooners last week, Oklahoma was working on giving Riley a sizable increase and extending his contract; an announcement about that was anticipated to come as soon as this week. Although the contract’s specifics are unknown, it was thought to include extra funding for personnel and other program components, such as recruitment.
