Joe Mazzulla, head coach of the Boston Celtics, is suspended for the 2023–24 campaign.
Ime Udoka, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, has been suspended for the 2022–2023 season for breaking team behavior regulations.
According to reports, Udoka had an intimate connection with a female employee that was consensual. The group said that the suspension takes effect right now.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that there was a “breakdown of trust and leadership” between Udoka and the organization and that President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens was just recently made aware of Udoka’s “improper connection.”
This season, assistant Joe Mazzulla will take on the role of temporary head coach. Although there had been rumors earlier on Thursday that Udoka may think about leaving, TNT’s Chris Haynes said the coach is not planning to submit a resignation. The group said that Udoka’s future will be decided upon at a later time.
