Kieran McKenna, the manager, has led Ipswich back to the Championship, although he has not yet considered planning a Premier League promotion attempt.

After spending 62 years in a row in the top two divisions, the Tractor Boys ended their four-year tenure in League One on Saturday with a 6-0 rout of Exeter.

The former Manchester United coach declared, “I’m sure the players are as ambitious as I am—the club is very ambitious.”

“We’ve put everything into this season, so we’ve not thought too far ahead.”

McKenna stated to BBC Radio Suffolk: “We have, of course, made infrastructural investments and attempted to take actions that will benefit us in the long run, but we haven’t looked past this season because it has been so demanding and difficult on the field.

“We’ll enjoy this and celebrate well, [then] in the summer we’ll be looking at every which way we can improve the club to keep building on this momentum that we’ve got.”

Exeter loses to Ipswich to guarantee promotion.
Against Exeter, Ipswich jumped out to a 5-0 lead in just 32 minutes. McKenna stated that his team was motivated by the enthusiastic reception their team coach received from thousands of supporters when it arrived at Portman Road ninety minutes prior to kickoff.

“The scenes before the game were a huge part of the day and a sign of the club’s spirit and love in the community,” the speaker stated.

It was far better than we could have imagined.

“At major Premier League stadiums and European games, I’ve witnessed a couple of those kinds of things, but not many like that—not just the quantity, but the intensity on their faces. It was a truly unique occasion.”

“The entrance was extra fuel for sure,” said Conor Chaplin, who opened the score and added his 29th goal of the season to make it 5-0.

“It was incredible, flares, smoke bombs, the amount of fans – we are so grateful for the support.”

Following the match, Chaplin—who was chosen as the year’s supporters’ player of the year—got his award.

He thinks “there’s room for one more” as Town gets ready to play their last game at Fleetwood. To win League One, they must defeat leaders Plymouth, who are playing at Port Vale, on Sunday.
