Manchester United star to receive a “huge offer” from Al Nassr as part of a double deal supported by Cristiano Ronaldo
Under Cristiano Ronaldo’s encouragement, Al Nassr is preparing a bold move to acquire two Manchester United players.
United is eager to get rid of a few veteran players to allay worries about Financial Fair Play (FFP) and free up cash for new acquisitions.
John Murtough, the director of United Football, traveled to Saudi Arabia in December to discuss possible sales.
He discussed both January and summer agreements with Saudi Pro League executives, and the Premier League team may soon reap the benefits of that decision.
The Daily Mail claims that Saudi club Al Nassr is eager to sign Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, two United players.
At £375,000 a week, Casemiro, 32, is now United’s highest-paid player.
However, he has had a difficult season and hasn’t played since early November because of a hamstring injury.
According to reports, United is willing to sell him this summer, provided they can recover a sizable portion of the £70 million they paid Real Madrid to acquire him in the previous season.
“Al Nassr is understood to be ready to make Casemiro a huge offer with encouragement from his former Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo,” stated the source.
Al Nassr is rumored to want to move up for Wan-Bissaka later this month.
After their £20 million offer for Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal was turned down last week, the Saudi club is now focusing on Wan-Bissaka.
It comes after rumors that United rejected Inter Milan’s request to trade for Wan-Bissaka, sending Denzel Dumfries to Old Trafford in exchange.
Wan-Bissaka’s contract was extended by 12 months by United earlier this month after the team decided not to extend the defender’s tenure.
Later, the defender’s agents met with United again to discuss a deal, but the result was “not positive,” the Mail reports.
Although Wan-Bissaka’s previous teams, West Ham and Crystal Palace, have shown interest in the defender, it is unlikely that they will have the financial resources to match Al Nassr.
Erik ten Hag acknowledged earlier this month that the majority of United’s transfer activity is expected to consist of outgoings and that the team is unlikely to make any significant additions this month.
Ten Hag stated, “I don’t think [we need to bring in any new players in January]—and if you can improve your team, then you should do,” in an interview with the United We Stand fanzine.
“Every player that comes to Carrington on a daily basis is expected to give their all, their very best.
“As a club, you have to search for ways to improve; therefore, I believe the club has to go with better if you can find better and it’s financially realistic and with fair financial play.
However, practically speaking, the finest players are rarely drawn to the market in the winter.
The best players won’t spend the winter away from their teams.
It’s athletes who are dissatisfied, hurt, or simply not the proper fit, among other reasons.”
