That’s it from our coverage of Everton against Liverpool at Goodison Park.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in either half as Everton moved eight points clear of the relegation zone.

The Reds are left three points behind Arsenal following a disappointing display.

Manchester City can climb above Jurgen Klopp’s side on Thursday when they travel to Brighton – a game we’ll have live coverage of here on Al Jazeera Sport.

We hope you enjoyed all the action this evening.

For now, though – from me, Kevin Hand – it’s goodbye.

“I was very disappointed about a lot of things. We let it happen – that it became exactly the game that Everton wanted,” the Liverpool manager told Sky Sports.

“We created a lot but didn’t score. Then in the second half, we were in a rush, a lot of emotions and not really clear enough.

“Then the second goal, a goal they score all season. We were not good enough, that’s what we have to admit.

“It’s not the greatest moment we are in, but we still have to play football games.

“When you win, there are 500 reasons. When you lose: You are just not good enough.

“Arsenal and Manchester City must come in a very bad moment [as well]. I must apologise for today. We should have done better, and that’s why we lost.”

“If we play like today then we have no right to consider ourselves in the title race,” the Liverpool captain told Sky Sports.

“Very disappointed in so many ways, and everyone needs to look in the mirror – did they give everything and do they really want to win the league?

“We have games to come – but if we play like we did today, then we have no chance to win the title.

“It’s a tough one, and you have to do much better against a side battling against relegation.

“We gave so many crosses when they could clear it quite easily. We had enough chances in the first half that we should have done much better.
