SOURCES: BURNLEY AND NOTTINGHAM FOREST HAVE HELD TALKS OVER SIGNING EREDIVISIE FORWARD, HE’S BEEN TOLD HE CAN LEAVE.
With less than a week before the transfer market closes, sources have confirmed to HITC Football that several Premier League clubs are interested in signing the Portuguese international.
Formerly known as Carlos Borges, Carlos Forbs left Manchester City in the summer for Ajax for almost £10 million after making an impression on the academy team, and Pep Guardiola’s team chose to sell.
Although the 19-year-old has made 25 appearances for Ajax in all competitions, contributing two goals and four assists, the Dutch team now appears eager to advance the cause.
Forbs is hesitant to leave the Dutch capital, according to HITC sources, but he has been informed that he can go but needs to move quickly if he wants to leave Ajax.
Nottingham Forest and Burnley have discussed a possible deal, and HITC has learned that Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, and West Ham United are also monitoring the 19-year-old’s situation.
The acquisition of the talented forward may be crucial to either of Everton or Forest’s survival in the division as they both face financial fair play concerns and relegation. Although the Portugal under-21 international is versatile, he is typically deployed as a right winger. Any agreement to remove the forward from the Netherlands would include lending money.
Under Vincent Kompany, Burnley is also in danger of relegation, so they may need the services of a new, dynamic striker—one that Kompany may know well given his connections to City—to avoid disaster.
Only Sheffield United has a worse record in the Premier League this season than Kompany’s team, who have scored just 21 goals. They could certainly use some extra goals.
In any case, it appears that teams are vying to sign the talented Portuguese forward.
