The Maple Leafs Declare Kyle Dubas’s Exit as General Manager
The Maple Leafs made an announcement announcing their 10-year separation with general manager Kyle Dubas.
In a statement, Toronto president Brendan Shanahan said, “Kyle fostered a great culture within our dressing room and staff and consistently pushed to make our team better season over season.” “We hope the best for Kyle’s family and himself going forward.”
After Lou Lamoriello was fired by the Toronto Marlies AHL franchise in 2018, Dubas joined the Maple Leafs in 2014, first serving as general manager and assistant general manager. Since 2020, he has been the league’s youngest general manager, having assumed the position at the age of 32.
Toronto scored more than 100 points three times when Dubas was general manager, and the team finished in the top ten in both of the COVID-19-shortened seasons. The Maple Leafs were unable to win a postseason series until this year, as they were defeated 4-1 by the Panthers in the second round.
Sheldon Keefe, the coach, is still undetermined due to Dubas’s absence. Keefe was the only head coach appointed by Dubas as general manager, and he has led the team for portions of the previous four seasons.
