We are pleased to announce Ange Postecoglou’s appointment as our new First Team Head Coach, effective immediately following the conclusion of the season and all domestic cup events. Ange is set to become the first Australian manager in the Premier League when he signs a four-year contract with us on July 1.

Chairman Daniel Levy: “Ange has a great attitude and a quick, attacking style of play. He understands the value of the connection from the academy and has a proven track record of developing players—all things that are significant to our club. Ange’s arrival excites us as we get ready for the upcoming season.”

Ange, a former member of the Australian national team, led South Melbourne and won the Oceania Club Championship and the National Soccer League twice. After managing in the A-League, he managed the Australian national Under-17 and Under-20 teams. With Brisbane Roar, he won the Premiership in 2011 and the Championship Grand Finals in 2011 and 2012, making history as the first coach to win back-to-back A-League Championship titles. After that, he was appointed manager of the senior Australian national team from 2013 to 2017, during which time the squad qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, won the AFC Asian Cup in 2015, and competed in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Joining us from Celtic, where he won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup in 2022–2023, he delivered the trifecta by winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish League Cup, and Scottish Cup in 2022–2023. He won the J1 League with Yokohama F. Marinos in 2019.
