Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season friendly schedule officially begins on Wednesday evening with a match in Edinburgh against Hearts.
Spurs did play a behind-closed-doors training ground match against Cambridge United on Saturday afternoon, with one starting XI recording a 5-0 scoreline in the first half and another XI drawing 2-2 in the second period. However, the trip to Tynecastle Park is the official beginning of the pre-season schedule ahead of the 2024/25 season under Ange Postecoglou.
The Australian became the first head coach to complete a full season at Tottenham in five years when the campaign came to a close at Sheffield United in May. That means Postecoglou has the rarity of a second pre-season to really drill his ideas into his players as well as welcome new faces.
The 58-year-old will be back in Scotland for the first time since his trophy-packed two seasons at Celtic. With his return so the Spurs fans will get the first chance to see summer arrivals Archie Gray and his fellow 18-year-old Lucas Bergvall in action as well as Timo Werner, who Tottenham negotiated a season-long loan return for with RB Leipzig after his recent half-campaign spell at the club.
