Spurs have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new First Team Head Coach, making him the first Australian to manage in the Premier League. Postecoglou will begin his role on July 1st, signing a four-year contract.
Daniel Levy, Chairman of Spurs, praised Postecoglou’s positive mentality and fast, attacking style of play. He highlighted Postecoglou’s track record of developing players and understanding of the club’s values.
Postecoglou has an extensive coaching career, including successful stints at South Melbourne, Brisbane Roar, the Australian national team, Yokohama F. Marino’s, and most recently, Celtic, where he won multiple trophies.
Spurs will announce Postecoglou’s coaching staff in the near future. We analyst what we do after every game and what we could have done better. It’s impossible to judge. I totally trust my group of players or we wouldn’t share so many goals. I like to stay humble and self critical. I don’t want to put myself in the spotlight. I have won the manager of the season three times. I’ve been nominated for manager of the season. We have the best home record in the history of Leeds. We have 87 points from 42 games. We have the best goal difference. We still have the chance to play the perfect season. I trust and back my players. I have managed teams out of this league a few times and I have a gut feeling.
