Todd Bowles’ replacement as the legendary head coach might be hired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After serving as the Bucs’ defensive coordinator for a few seasons, previous head coach Bruce Arians departed, giving Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles the keys to a stacked squad in one of the greatest scenarios you could imagine.

Following a turbulent tenure of 24–40 (.375 winning%) as head coach of the New York Jets from 2015–2018, Bowles was granted another opportunity with the Buccaneers.

The irony of this action stems from the fact that in 2020, Tom Brady, the quarterback for the Patriots, joined the Buccaneers during free agency and went on to win a championship in only his first season. Not only did Brady relocate to Tampa Bay, but so did Rob Gronkowski, Shaq Mason, Logan Ryan, and Antonio Brown, who all joined Brady in the red and pewter.

Since bringing Bruce Arians out of retirement to coach Brady most recently, and since hiring Jon Gruden to replace Tony Dungy, the Buccaneers have made headlines when it comes to head coach selections.

There are other reasons to consider the hypothetical move positively besides the potential to make a big splash in the head coaching position. Jason Licht, the general manager of the Buccaneers, and Bill Belichick are also acquainted because of Licht’s tenure in New England.

Sullivan noted, “GM Jason Licht had two distinct tenures under Belichick with the Patriots, including a stretch from 2009 to 2011 when he was the director of player personnel.
