Tasmanian man dies and several kids hospitalised after getting caught in a rip

The children and man were swimming at Cooee Beach when they started “experiencing difficulty” in rough waters.

 

This impressive bub has mastered the survival swim method at just one-year-old.

A man has tragically drowned and several children have been rescued from a Tasmanian beach after experiencing difficulty in strong currents.

 

Emergency responders were called to Cooee Beach on Sunday at 4.30pm after reports of strong currents caused swimmers to struggle to stay afloat.

 

Lifesavers and emergency services arrived on the scene soon later, pulling an unresponsive man from the water.

Man dead, children hospitalised after strong rips in Cooee Beach

According to Surf Live Savers, the swimmers were “experiencing difficulty” in the strong currents.

 

Despite undergoing CPR to revive the man, he tragically could not be saved.

Several children, who were swimming with the man, were also caught in the rip. Thankfully, the life savers were able to rescue all from the water.

 

The children were rushed to North West Regional Hospital, where they were admitted for observation.
