The Professional Squash Association (PSA) has paid tribute to Mexico’s Rodolfo Vega who sadly passed away on Friday at the age of 28 following a tragic motorbike accident.
Vega, who had been ranked as high as World No.224 in March of this year, made his PSA debut in 2018. He won two tournaments on the WSF & PSA Satellite Tour – the Vega’s Squash Open in February 2023 and the San Martin Cup in March 2023 – both in his home country of Mexico.
Vega made 27 appearances on the PSA Tour, winning 12 matches, with his most recent tournament seeing him reach the final of the Open Aragon.
“It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Rodolfo Vega,” said PSA Chief Executive Alex Gough.
“Rodolfo was a talented player who had been playing some of the best squash of his career in 2023, winning multiple titles in Mexico and enjoying a career-high ranking just a few short months ago.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to Rodolfo’s family and friends at this difficult
lt time.”
