Done Deal: Ipswich have closes £35m signing with top star….

Ipswich Town make decision over pursuit of player also eyed by Leeds United.

On the day of the transfer deadline, Ipswich Town is considering the possibilities of adding to their defensive lineup. They have until 11 p.m. tonight to do so, and Dummett, a player for Newcastle United, is one of those being watched.

The 32-year-old is not a regular member of the Magpies’ roster, but according to early rumors, Town was interested in him, but the Premier League team had rejected their preliminary inquiries. There’s now more information available on the subject.

Following their brief talks over a deal, Ipswich Town has opted not to pursue a move for Dummett, according to the EDT.

Since then, it has been reported that Leeds United is interested in the Welshman. Rivals of the Tractor Boys’ Championship promotion are keen to expand their back-line options today, but only time will tell if their interest in Newcastle mainstay Dummett is sincere.

ONE OF 20

Ipswich Town’s alleged decision to forgo a chase could open the door for Leeds United to make a move. They desperately need additional choices in defense, and Dummett might be a great addition because he provides a dependable and seasoned option at left or center back.

But given that Newcastle is rumored to have rejected Town’s interest in a move, you would assume the Whites would receive a similar answer. It doesn’t hurt to put out a feeler to see if anything could happen, though.

Dummett would be a valuable addition to the Championship team. Having played in the Premier League for the bulk of his career, he is a dependable option at two positions, and his versatility could be very beneficial for a team lacking defensive options like Leeds United.
