Leicester City left-back Luke Thomas has agreed to a one-year loan at Championship opponent Middlesbrough.

Following his brief stint at Sheffield United of the Premier League, Thomas returned to City last week. The Blades wanted to reorganize their team.

Luke Thomas, a left back for Leicester City, has signed a loan deal to play for Championship rivals Middlesbrough through the conclusion of the year.

Following his brief stint at Sheffield United of the Premier League, Thomas returned to City last week. With few domestic loans available, the Blades decided to end Thomas’s time at Bramall Lane in an effort to rebalance their roster.

However, Thomas moved on fast and will play the rest of the season with Michael Carrick’s team.

Boro now sits 11th in the Championship league with 40 points, one win outside the play-off spots. This week, they were humiliated by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and as a result, missed out on a spot in the Carabao Cup final.

Boro recovered admirably from a terrible start to finish as play-off semi-finalists last season, and they will be strong favorites to finish in the top six this year. They join Hull, Leeds, and Coventry as the only four teams to defeat City this season.

With only 25 players in the team, Thomas was not going to last at City. In the summer, Enzo Maresca gave the academy graduate a candid evaluation, saying he was unable of playing either full-back position for his side, whether it was shifting into midfield like Ricardo Pereira or filling in as a third center-back like James Justin and Callum Doyle.

Michael Carrick, the manager of Boro, stated: “We’re thrilled to have Luke join the team.

He’s a valuable addition to the team, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a sense of balance to our current lineup. We’re excited to collaborate with him. and they decided to terminate Thomas’s employment at Bramall Lane because there weren’t enough domestic loans available.
