Player ‘on his way’ to England to sign for Burnley – Medical ‘booked today’ for late transfer.
Late in the winter transfer window, Burnley is getting closer to finalizing a deal for Maxime Estève of Montpellier.
Journalist Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, who has the most recent information on X, formerly known as Twitter, claims as much.
According to Aouna, the 21-year-old is “on his way” to Manchester to complete the necessary steps to finalize his permanent transfer to the Premier League team. He continues by saying that the center back’s Burnley medical is “booked today.”
The Ligue 1 team and the Clarets have reached a trade agreement for the defender, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri on Tuesday. However, Tavolieri did not give any specific numbers.
Previous reports said Burnley had paid the €12 million asking price for the center back but was attempting to postpone the payments, which infuriated the French team.
Following reports from Foot Mercato two days ago that Montpellier desired a sizable upfront payment of €12 million, Vincent Kompany’s team has now made a new offer to break the deadlock.
After the two clubs worked out the specifics of the move, the player traveled to England for his Burnley medical.
This season, Estève has made 13 appearances and has contributed a goal and an assist.
