Breaking News: Notes on coaching: Quinn, Morris, Falcons, Staley, Browns, Giants,…

Although the Seahawks and Mike Vrabel have not yet met, it is thought that the NFC West team is interested in Vrabel. There’s more smoke emerging, linking Vrabel to Seattle. According to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com, there are a number of people suggesting that this is a game worth keeping an eye on. Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post has heard that Vrabel and Dan Quinn are the two players to watch in relation to the Seattle HC position.

La Canfora adds that Vrabel and Seahawks general manager John Schneider are said to be close. Schneider, who functioned as Carroll’s right-hand man while Carroll had the final decision, is now in charge in Seattle since Carroll is no longer involved. When Tennessee was in between general managers, Vrabel requested complete personnel authority, but the organization refused to give it to him. Quinn’s four seasons—spread across two stints, the latter two as a Super Bowl-bound DC—clearly create a strong connection, but a structure where Schneider has the final say but Vrabel has more involvement than he had with the Titans may make sense. Additionally, the Dallas DC was the first applicant brought up for this position. Quinn will be interviewing digitally with the Panthers, Chargers, Seahawks, Titans, and Commanders throughout his hectic week.

Turning away from their Arthur Blank-era pattern, the Falcons are rumored to be considering an experienced coach. Given that he served as Atlanta’s interim head coach in 2020, Raheem Morris is an intriguing pick, but La Canfora notes that some in the league see this as a possible fit. Morris is thought to have departed Atlanta on good terms, according to a coaching agent who told La Canfora. Sean McVay is promoting his three-year DC. Morris was a staff member of the Falcons from 2015 to 20 and was the Buccaneers HC from 2009 to 2011.But the fact that Bill Belichick has scheduled a second interview suggests that the former Patriots coach is the front-runner in this situation.
This week, Duce Staley visited the Browns, as reported by Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. The Browns are in need of a replacement at running backs coach after firing Stud Mitchell. During his first season coaching the Panthers’ running backs, Staley did not make it through December; he was fired along with quarterbacks coach Josh McCown. However, Staley has been a backfield coach in the NFL since 2013, working for the Panthers, Lions, and Eagles.
