Arizona Following a turbulent 2023 season that saw the release of nearly the entire offensive staff, former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is interviewing with the Chicago Bears for the post of offensive coordinator.
After being sacked by the Cardinals, Kingsbury recently joined the Trojans as an offensive analyst and quarterbacks coach at USC.
Chicago may be particularly motivated to bring Kingsbury in because of his relationship with quarterback Caleb Williams, who is predicted to be the first choice in the 2024 NFL Draft, as noted by NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Could he be in charge of their attacking strategy? Yes, that does make sense. He’s always had great skill at that. But he also tutored Caleb Williams, who could be selected first overall, according to Rapoport.
It’s undeniable that the Bears will likely receive some really deep information about where Caleb Williams is, his preferences, what has worked and what hasn’t, as well as what factors contributed to his season-long success. The Bears are at the very least get an early look at a player they may pick number one.”
A few sources have mentioned Kingsbury as a candidate to monitor for offensive coordinator positions in the NFL, but he was also supposedly in the running to remain in college and take the helm as Houston’s head coach. As a result, he has been the subject of intense rumors regarding additional coaching options.
Kingsbury joined Lincoln Riley’s staff at USC after interviewing with the Houston Texans during the previous summer. In the past, he has collaborated with quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield, Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, and Johnny Manziel.
The Bears’ decision to have a conversation with Kingsbury can only help them in their search for the team’s future face, as Rapoport hinted at.
