In Gilbert, Perry Puma Drive was renamed Brock Purdy Way in honor of 49ers quarterback
GILBERT, ARIZ (CBS 5/TV) — This Sunday in the Super Bowl, Brock Purdy, a native of Queen Creek, will start at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. The former Perry Puma’s high school made the decision to take a stand as they get ready for Sunday. Brock Purdy Way will be the new name of Perry Puma Drive for about one month.
Principal Heather Patterson of Perry High School stated, “The connections and ties that he built here while he was a student are still extremely strong.” “And what a wonderful young guy he is.”
According to Patterson, as soon as Purdy’s Niners triumphed against the Packers in the opening round of the playoffs, residents of Perry and the Gilbert community began organizing various events to convey to Purdy that, as they put it, “he’s Purdy unique.”
“We came up with spirit days that were related to high school and, of course, the 49ers,” the woman stated. “Excitement has been whirling by, and the campus has been electrified.”
The school will be completely white by tomorrow. It is intended that all educators, administrators, and students wear the Kyle Narducci-designed “Brock Nation” t-shirt. As you may have surmised, Narducci graduated from Perry.
“Rain or shine, we’re loyal supporters, and we’re with Brock 180 percent,” Patterson declared. “Therefore, I believe he knows that we are here for him.”
Shawn, Purdy’s father, very certainly does. He has a message for all Arizonans who have been supporting Purdy throughout the past ten years, not just Puma Nation.
“I say, ‘I want to text you when this is finished. “Hey Arizona, I appreciate your support for Brock,” Shawn said to Brad Cesmat of Sports360AZ. “It’s been incredible,”
The new street signs will be up for around a month before being taken down, according to Patterson, but there are further celebrations of Purdy’s achievements planned for the future.
