A spokeswoman for Run 4 Wales revealed the runner received immediate medical attention upon collapsing at the finish line and was then rushed to University Hospital of Wales, where they sadly passed away.
She expressed condolences, stating: “This is a terrible tragedy and our deepest sympathies go out to the runner’s family. In respect for the participant’s family at this difficult time, no further details will be released.”
The half-marathon has seen similar tragedies in the past, with the deaths of Nicholas Beckley in 2019 and both Ben McDonald and Dean Fletcher in 2018, who suffered cardiac arrests after completing the race.
An inquest concluded that both men died of natural causes.
