The Los Angeles Chargers’ offense has hit a rough patch after a strong start to the season, despite their success running the ball. Injuries have hindered their ability to generate a consistent passing attack. 
Rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey has quickly become the team’s top target, but the Chargers may have a rare chance to add more firepower to their receiving corps.
Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams, after much offseason speculation, has officially requested a trade. USA Today’s Tyler Dragon identified the Chargers as a potential landing spot for Adams, noting that the team lacks a true No.
1 receiver after parting ways with Mike Williams and trading Keenan Allen. Adams would immediately offer quarterback Justin Herbert a top-tier target alongside McConkey.
Although Adams has only recorded 18 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown in three games this season, he’s been dealing with an injury and could regain his elite form with a more stable quarterback situation. However, a trade seems unlikely due to the heated rivalry between the Chargers and Raiders, both AFC West teams.
Dragon also pointed out a connection between the two teams’ front offices that could make the deal more plausible. Raiders GM Tom Telesco, who served as Chargers GM from 2013 to 2023, might be open to negotiating a favorable trade.
With the Chargers averaging just 136.0 passing yards per game, second-worst in the NFL, acquiring Adams could significantly enhance their aerial attack. General manager Joe Hortiz could explore leveraging that relationship to make a trade happen.
