Steelers Head Coach Players Were Not Told About Matt Canada by Mike Tomlin Mike Tomlin, the fired head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, failed to tell his players about the change in the offensive coordinator.

Pittsburgh — The players hadn’t heard from head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers regarding his decision to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada by the time he was fielding questions from the media.

Tomlin stated he hadn’t yet spoken to the Steelers players directly when they were asked when he informed them about the coaching change. So how did the players find out that their offensive coordinator will be changing?

Tomlin told the media gathered for his monthly press conference at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, “probably from you guys.”

The Steelers will go from having a single offensive coordinator and play-caller in Canada to a two-man system where the play-caller on gameday is Mike Sullivan, the quarterbacks coach, and running backs coach Eddie Faulkner.

The team’s objective for this week is still to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals and be in the thick of the AFC postseason race, according to Tomlin, who also stated that this coaching change will not have an impact on how he judges starting quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Tomlin declared, “We’re not grading on a curve.” “We are looking forward to this week.”
