Good News: Steelers Mike Tomlin have huge Contract with…

Steelers, Mike Tomlin Expect Contract Extension.

Pittsburgh —Although he does not currently have a contract extension past the last year on his prior agreement, Mike Tomlin will rejoin the Pittsburgh Steelers as head coach for the 2024 campaign.

Following Tomlin’s remarks, Steelers president Art Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he anticipates finishing his head coach’s contract extension this offseason.

“Those contract things are going to run their course, and I expect to be back,” Tomlin stated. “I have a great, open relationship with Art. We speak with each other frequently and continuously. I don’t think there will be a problem, and I think it will be completed on schedule and at the right moment.

Tomlin will lead the team for the upcoming 18th season as head coach. He had already signed a three-year contract extension in 2021, which ran through the 2022–2024 season. Usually during training camp, he announces contract renewals.

When questioned about his future after the team’s playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Tomlin made headlines by leaving the podium. On Thursday, Tomlin expressed regret about it, but he insisted that the question was better suited for the post-season news conference.

“I feel a little better today. Do you have any questions about the contract?” To begin his news conference, he said. “I could have handled the situation better, no doubt about it, but let me also say this: I just think everything has its proper time and place, and news conferences held after games are perhaps not the best place to discuss contract disputes and other such matters. It’s just a very personal matter. After being asked about his future, Mike Tomlin leaves the podium.

The national media had speculated that Tomlin may consider stepping down following the 2023 season, in which his team ended 10-7 but lost in the opening round of the playoffs—their fifth consecutive playoff defeat under Tomlin’s leadership.
