Suspended Sooners three for the Peach Bowl matchup over LSU
NORMAN, Oklahoma. At least three players for the fourth-ranked Sooners will be sidelined for the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. According to OUInsider.com’s Brandon Drumm, three players have been suspended for the game against the top-ranked LSU Tigers: wide receiver Trejan Bridges, running back Rhamondre Stevenson, and defensive lineman Ronnie Perkins. It was initially reported by SoonerScoop.com, and The Athletic corroborated the information.
For a few days now, there have been rumors circulating that many Sooners players may have received suspensions. However, head coach Lincoln Riley did not address it in his National Signing Day press conference on Wednesday.
Riley acknowledged the existence of the report. “Unfortunately, I am unable to comment on it at this time.”
He was asked about the circumstances a few more times. Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman first inquired about the health of running back Kennedy Brooks, who sustained an injury during the Big 12 Championship. She next inquired about the health of fellow back Stevenson.
Riley declared, “Kennedy Brooks will play.”
Riley wouldn’t say much when asked whether he was reluctant to remark because of a possible appeals procedure.
Riley remarked, “I’m not sure that I want to even go that far.” “I just can’t at this time. I thus promise to do so when I can, but not now.
The third-year head coach of the Sooners also declined to provide an official statement’s release date.
Riley remarked, “I’m not sure when exactly I’ll be able to comment. “But you’ll know when I am.”

This will undoubtedly be a major distraction in the run-up to the game versus LSU, which is rated #1. Riley, though, dismissed it as just another challenge in their 12-1 campaign.
Riley remarked, “I mean, this whole game and all these playoffs are a massive distraction.” As everyone gets ready for this, there are a ton of distractions going on, and the team that can manage them the best will usually be the most prepared. You know, this year has been difficult for us. We’ve had difficulties when new players have entered the team or when a player is injured. Well, that’s just the way things work. We will thus proceed as we have and be prepared to play.
