Andy Bass, an Oklahoma Sooners signee, was listed by On3 as one of the top 10 athletes in the 2024 class.
The final rankings for the On3 2024 recruitment class are now lower. Most of the time, Oklahoma Sooner supporters have taken issue with On3’s ranking of their signees.
However, Andy Bass is one indication that On3 has truly been regarded higher than any other recruitment agency. In On3’s most recent rating, the Heritage Hall product is rated as a four-star talent. He is also listed as the nation’s 10th-best athlete by them.
This follows an incredible senior year for the Oklahoman player who can do it all. Bass was a Heritage Hall quarterback. 34 touchdowns and 3,144 throwing yards were his final stats. He added 31 touchdowns and 1,480 yards of rushing.
When he visited Oklahoma’s camp this past summer, he truly drew attention due to his exceptional speed. He ran a bunch of routes at wide receiver during camp. That demonstrated both his exceptional speed and his ability to catch the ball.
It appears that he will be coached by DeMarco Murray and housed in the running back room; yet, after he heals from the injury he sustained in his last game, he will be a gadget player for the Sooners. He’ll alternate between playing running back and wide receiver. He only needs to figure out how to get the ball, and in that regard, I view him as the next Gavin Freeman.
How big of an effect he makes in his debut season with the Crimson and Cream is still to be seen, but if he can recover from his injury and pick up the playbook, it will be difficult to contain that pace off the field.
