Breaking News: Ohio state buckeyes coach Ryan day have sign…

Ryan Day looks to handoff play calling duties for 2024 season.

OLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — It is national signing day in college football, and Ohio State coach Ryan Day spoke about every aspect of the Buckeyes hectic offseason.

Day addressed the media Wednesday morning to discuss signing day, new transfers, preparations for spring football, and his outlook on play calling duties.

To start, Day discussed the hiring of new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien as the Buckeyes head coach looks to hand off play calling duties. He also addressed recent reports that O’Brien was connected to the now vacant head coaching job at Boston College, saying O’Brien was at work Wednesday.

“It’s been great for him to kind of learn what we have done and infuse some of his thoughts and tweaks,” said Day. “It’s great to have some of that collaboration. A very diverse background there and a lot of respect over the years.”

Ohio State is more than one month removed from its 14-3 loss in the Cotton Bowl to Missouri. Since then, the Buckeyes have enjoyed a busy transfer season with star players like safety Caleb Downs, quarterback Will Howard, and running Quinshon Judkins deciding to join the program. The team also got multiple incoming seniors to return, including running back TreVeyon Henderson and receiver Emeka Egbuna.

“We have enough right now with the guys in the building to go win a national championship.” said Day. “We have an opportunity with an unbelievable team to attack this thing. Pressure is a privilege.”

Howard is the most experienced of a full quarterback room in Columbus with five scholarship players in the position — Howard, Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz, Air Noland, and Julian Sayin. Day said Howard is earning respect in the locker room as he will look to make sure each of the QBs get reps during spring practice.

The Buckeyes have also gotten a head start for 2025 by getting commitments from the two best cornerbacks in the country — Devin Sanchez and Naeem Offord. Simultaneously, OSU’s rival and the defending national champion Michigan made a coaching change after Jim Harbaugh left for the Los Angeles Chargers. Offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore was promoted as the new coach.

April 13 will be the first-time fans will see the 2024 Buckeyes when they play the exhibition spring game at Ohio Stadium. Tickets for the game will go on sale Friday.
