Sad News: Kyle Michael Shanahan niners head coach just announced his resignation to leave the club….

Days after losing the Super Bowl, Kyle Shanahan, the coach of the San Francisco 49ers, had a change of heart.

Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, disclosed that he fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks after Super Bowl LVIII, even though he had previously stated that he anticipated everyone on the staff would return in 2024.

The Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years on Sunday night, defeating the 49ers 25–22.The game’s MVP, Patrick Mahomes, was declared for the third time in his career after passing for 333 yards and two touchdowns.

Shanahan’s Super Bowl troubles get worse after the loss. As the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons’ greatest Super Bowl comeback against the New England Patriots, he has now lost two Super Bowls as a head coach, both against the Chiefs.

Three days after the game in Las Vegas, Shanahan is already making adjustments to his team. Wilks had only been brought on a year prior to take DeMeco Ryan’s place as the head coach of the Houston Texans, so he made the decision to let him go.

Shanahan made the following announcement on a conference call: “This morning, I removed Steve Wilks from his duties.” We’re going to switch around at defensive coordinator in the end. It actually says nothing about Steve as a guy or as a football coach, so it was a really difficult choice. He’s just the kind of man we’ve always wanted, really. He coaches football really well.

“However, considering our team’s direction and current status from a strategy and other aspects, as we’ve gone through the entire year to these past few days, I felt quite firmly that this was the right option for the organization.”

Although Shanahan had previously stated that he anticipated all coaches to return, firing Wilks indicates that he is prepared to make significant adjustments. In order to break the legendary 49ers’ 30-year drought, the 44-year-old wants to win the Super Bowl with them the next season.
