Chicago has already set their sights on Tuesday, when they take on the Atlanta Hawks in a 9 vs. 10 play-in tournament game. They have very little to gain from Sunday’s game at Madison Square Garden; the oddsmakers believe that none of the starters will play meaningful minutes, and they have set the spread at an absurd 15.5 points. However, the Bulls’ bench can still be effective; on Friday, they defeated Washington 129-127 while shooting 40% from three and 49% from the field.
The Knicks’ predicament remains unresolved in terms of standings, but one thing is certain: they cannot finish lower than the third seed. In theory, they could face the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs if they win here and the Bucks lose. That would not be ideal. The Knicks, who are 11.5 point favorites, defeated the Brooklyn Nets 111-107 to extend their winning streak to four games. Even Tom Thibodeau, the great, should think about resting a few players after such a demanding workload over the last few months, even though he started two players for more than forty minutes.
I’m betting on the Knicks to win this game because it sounds nicer to finish second rather than third. However, given how carefree they are playing, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bulls reserves pulled off the upset in this game. Chicago and the enormous spread, please.
