Sad News: Dennis Allen new orleans saint head coach just suspend his player due to…

Eno Benjamin of the Saints will miss the season due to an Achilles injury while Alvin Kamara is suspended.

Running back Eno Benjamin of the New Orleans Saints will miss the entire 2023 season due to an Achilles rupture sustained during training camp, according to head coach Dennis Allen’s announcement on Saturday.

Following the announcement on Friday that the NFL has suspended Saints starting running back Alvin Kamara for the first three games of the 2023 regular season, Benjamin had a shot to make the 53-man roster out of training camp.

Following Kamara’s no contest plea to a misdemeanor breach of peace charge pertaining to an alleged punching incident in February 2022 in Las Vegas, where Kamara is accused of hitting a guy many times, the ban was imposed.

Benjamin, 24, was a standout student at Arizona State prior to being taken by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, Benjamin did not play in a game; however, in 2021, he participated in nine games and gained 118 yards and one score via the air in addition to 42 yards from six grabs.

He fared well in his ten games and three starts during the start of the previous season with the Cards, filling in for the injured James Conner.

Benjamin averaged 4.3 yards per carry while running for 299 yards and two touchdowns on 70 touches. In addition, he grabbed 24 passes for 184 yards.

Benjamin was unexpectedly discarded by the Cardinals in November, and the Houston Texans claimed him. Benjamin was discarded once more and ended up in New Orleans following his two games with the Texans.

Benjamin only managed four rushes totaling 13 yards in his three games with the Saints.

The Saints made a significant offseason commitment to adding backfield depth in anticipation of the potential suspension of Kamara. They signed free agent Jamaal Williams from the Detroit Lions and selected Kendre Miller in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft.

Williams, who led the NFL with 17 running touchdowns and ran for a career-high 1,066 yards last season, will probably start at least the first three weeks of the NFL season as New Orleans’ primary back while Kamara is out.

Considering Kamara’s suspension, Ellis Merriweather, an undrafted rookie from UMass, is presently ranked third among running backs on the New Orleans depth chart, after Williams and Miller.
