more than 13 hours after the first runners began the New York City Marathon on Sunday morning, the final two participants crossed the finish line long after sunset.
Danielle Grimley, 41, from Colorado, completed her first marathon in 10 hours, 32 minutes, and 7 seconds, crossing the line just after 9:30 p.m. She was using crutches and had a bandage on her thigh.
Mario Bollini, 74, from Italy, who started after Grimley, finished a few minutes later at 10:01:47. Speaking through an interpreter, he mentioned this was his 37th marathon in New York.
