The practical problems of expanding the property have Manchester United open to moving from their Carrington training base.
According to insider club sources, United is limited by the cables on the entrance to the training facilities and the small country lane on Birch Road.
United has looked into purchasing some surrounding farmland, although there might be problems constructing football fields on land that is used to grow food.
United wants to focus on football, hence they do not wish to expand into any of the pitches on the current site.

United moved from The Cliff to Carrington in January 2000 after purchasing the site there in 1996; but, little has been done to upgrade the facilities while they are owned by the Glazer family.
