Elliot Lee, a midfielder for Wrexham, has compared his team’s goals to Luton Town’s incredible promotion from the lower division as the Welsh team aims for Premier League success.

With the Red Dragons’ most recent 6-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers guaranteeing a position in League One for the first time since the 2004–05 season, the 29-year-old was instrumental in the team’s consecutive promotions. For the 159-year-old organization, which has been growing since actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney assumed leadership in 2021, this accomplishment is a momentous occasion.

Wrexham, managed by Phil Parkinson, has secured League One football with two games remaining, following Stockport County in making the jump from the National League. Now, the question is whether Wrexham can keep up their current pace in the third division or if they’ll face more formidable opposition.

Reynolds, a co-owner, has made no secret of his high goals, saying last year that “the Premier League has been and always will be the plan in ten years.” Why wouldn’t we attempt to get from the fifth division to the Premier League if it were technically feasible?”

If his current team follows the Hatters’ lead, Lee thinks they can replicate Luton’s ascent from non-league to the Premier League. “Take a look at my old club, Luton,” he said to The Athletic. I mentioned that I was looking for a project like Luton when I left. I was looking to move up the levels, and Wrexham seemed the perfect fit.

You can’t put yourself ahead of yourself, of course. Furthermore, I do not claim that we will play in the Premier League very soon. However, I do believe that we have all the necessary elements to succeed as a club.
