The Premier League game was stopped, and the captain of Luton Town was carried out on a stretcher after being deemed “alert and responsive.”

Share Luton’s match against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday had to be called off due to the sudden collapse of their captain, Tom Lockyer, on the field following a heart arrest.
After Lockyer fell off the ball, the game was delayed in the 59th minute while medical personnel attended to him.
Issa Kaboré of Luton appeared to be praying on the side of the pitch as the situation at the Vitality Stadium unfolded, indicating the obvious grief of both clubs’ players and personnel.
Lockyer was treated and both teams were sent to the changing rooms.
“Our medical staff has confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but he was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher,” Luton Town stated in a statement. We would like to thank the medical professionals from both sides once more for the additional care he received inside the stadium.
“Tom was taken to the hospital, and we are happy to inform his supporters that he is stable and is presently receiving additional testing while his family is by his side. We want to express our gratitude to everyone for their kind words, concern, and support for Locks.
“We are sorry to all supporters present that players from both sides were in no state of mind to continue with the game after seeing their much-loved teammate and friend taken off like that and staff could not carry on with managing the game in such circumstances,” Luton had earlier posted on X, the former Twitter account, expressing gratitude to the crowd.
“At such a trying time, we would like to thank everyone for the beautiful cheers and singing of Locks’ [Lockyer’s] name inside the stadium.”
They expressed their gratitude to “Bournemouth and the medical staff on both sides for their prompt response, which was truly remarkable.”
In reaction to Luton’s update on Lockyer’s health, Bournemouth stated, “We’re relieved to hear Tom is responsive.”
“At this time, our thoughts will remain with Tom and his family,” the club continued. We want to express our gratitude to the entire medical team for their prompt response and to everyone within the stadium for their solidarity and support during this trying time.
