Falcons sign DC Rams Their upcoming head coach will be Raheem Morris

Another domino has fallen, and the NFL coaching carousel is beginning to come to an end. Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, has recently joined the Atlanta Falcons as their new head coach. This comes only a day after it was announced that Jim Harbaugh will take over as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, and just after it was announced that former Seahawks coach Dave Canales would be joining the Carolina Panthers.
The only clubs in the league still searching for a head coach are the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Commanders, after the Chargers and Falcons have already secured their new hires. Although it is difficult to say how much of an impact Seattle would feel from Atlanta signing Morris, Seattle will be directly impacted. Morris was supposed to have a job interview on Friday, but it seems clear at this point that he will not be attending.

Even with the absence of Jim Harbaugh, Dave Canales, and Raheem Morris, Seattle still has a wide range of excellent possibilities. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the Seahawks will exercise patience and appear to be taking a “pick of the liter” strategy.

The Seahawks and Commanders are the final two teams in this cycle with head coach vacancy. According to league insiders, neither club is anticipated to make any hirings until the next week, following Sunday’s conference final games.

The renowned Bill Belichick is one name that is truly grabbing my attention. The Falcons were essentially the only club interested in the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach, as Ian Rapoport pointed out. Now that Atlanta has chosen Morris, Belichick can no longer pursue this option. and I’m not aware of any further ones.

In reference to Bill Belichick: The last two open positions are with the Seahawks and the Commanders. Washington seems intent on Ben Johnson and has shown no interest in chasing Belichick. No request to interview Belichick has come from Seattle.

The Seahawks appear to be focused on one of two alternatives if Schefter is correct and they decide to wait until next week:

Mike MacDonald, coordinator of the Ravens defense, and Ben Johnson, coordinator of the Lions offense. These two are without a doubt the best ticket planners, which is why Seattle is eagerly waiting.
