Daniel Farke faces a few selection problems ahead of Leeds United’s match against Norwich City this evening.
Although Farke has successfully started the same lineup in each of the last two championship games, today’s encounter is the second of three home games in six days.
Pascal Struijk and Willy Gnonto are Leeds’ only true injury concerns going into this evening’s game, although Gnonto may be able to start on the bench after missing Sunday’s victory over Preston North End.
Since nobody else is playing today, the Whites will need to maintain their strong recent run of play to maintain pressure on the top three.
In light of it, the following is our prediction for the game:.
Ian Meslier, the goalkeeper, remains in position between the sticks.
Defense Farke has a few choices to make at the back, but none are more important than the choice to bring Sam Byram back into the starting lineup.
Byram can play full-back on either side, but he needs to guard Junior Firpo’s and Archie Gray’s fitness for different reasons. Still, it wouldn’t come as a shock if Farke left it that way.
Liam Cooper, who plays center defense, will also be vying for a recall, but it would be unwise to sever Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu’s friendship at this point.
midfield
Ilia Gruev will benefit from the decision to keep Cooper on the bench, as his stellar recent performance has earned him a start for the fourth time in all competitions.
Leeds won all three points on Sunday thanks to an attacking penalty from substitute Joel Piroe, and Farke now has to choose whether to play him again in the league for the first time in over a month.
With Dan James and Crysencio Summerville both out wide, it is currently difficult to ignore Georginio Rutter and Patrick Bamford’s growing relationship.
