Sad News: Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has just suspended two of his key player due to……

In the short time that the college basketball transfer portal has been available, almost 900 men’s Division I players have already signed up. We are here to guide you toward the names you should be paying the most attention to because that is a lot of terrain for you to cover. Welcome to the rankings of The Athletic’s transfer portal.

This is a dynamic document that will be updated as more players visit the site and, to be honest, as we continue to assess the players who are already there. We start every interaction with college coaches by inquiring as to whether the other has started scouting a particular prospect. We all readily acknowledge that we haven’t had the time. Due to the large number of players on the site, it has been necessary to work nonstop to get the necessary amount of eyes on everyone.

All of this takes place while teams continue to compete in important games. To stay ahead of the game, they need to divide their time between their postseason runs and the assessment of transfer portal choices. For players and colleges trying to figure out their futures, the deadline crunch is absurd.

It’s difficult for us as well. Every year, we want to build the most complete and best transfer portal scouting product possible, but we still haven’t had a chance to examine every player. Be patient if a player you think ought to be ranked isn’t listed. We will ultimately get around to that player if they are skilled enough. More than 60 players were ranked when we started, and we anticipate that number to soar in the days to come.

We have straightforward guidelines about when a player is qualified for the list: The player must either declare his intention to join the portal or have his name appear there. You can use one of the search sidebars to filter for players who have committed or are still available if that’s all you’re interested in. We have included and will continue to include a separate piece in the player’s write-up with their comments on how well they fit into their new institution once they commit.

For them, it’s important to mention a couple more ranking notes.

Positional scarcity is considered first. Scoring guards are the most easily located player type in the portal, as you can see here. The most difficult varieties are adaptable bigs and wings who can play on both ends.
