This morning, a tragic kiteboarding accident at Sp’akw’us Feather Park claimed the lives of ten female kiteboarders. The incident occurred during a routine session when unexpectedly severe weather struck.
Izzy Jackson, 18, known as “JJ” to her friends, was free diving from a boat on Hat’s Painful Island, Tonga, on Saturday when she experienced a suspected shallow water blackout (a loss of consciousness due to low oxygen levels), her father Darren Rice confirmed to Mating I Tonga Online. Divers found her body on the seafloor beneath the boat around 12:15 p.m., but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
