Tragedy Strikes: Missing Kayaker’s Body Found Near Sentosa

The police have confirmed the discovery of the body of a kayaker who went missing on Sunday morning. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) retrieved the body off Sentosa at 3pm on Tuesday.

The deceased, a 33-year-old woman, had vanished after embarking on a kayaking trip with three companions. Preliminary investigations indicate no suspicion of foul play, though inquiries are ongoing.

The unfortunate incident occurred when the woman’s kayak overturned in the waters between Sentosa and Palau Tekukor, within an area known as the Buran Channel. Reports suggest she was attempting to assist a companion whose kayak had also capsized before she succumbed to the currents.

Despite extensive search efforts involving SCDF and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), including divers and patrol craft, the woman could not be saved. The Buran Channel is notorious for its challenging conditions, even for seasoned kayakers.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of waterways and the importance of safety precautions during water activities.
