Pro Football Focus, a football analytics website, released its annual ranking of the Top 101 players in the NFL on Friday. Only 2023 play, including the postseason, was taken into consideration for this year’s ranking, which included seven Kansas City Chiefs players:
What Mahomes accomplished this season was just further icing on the already impressive career legacy of the Chiefs, especially considering the fog that the rest of the offense appeared to be in for the majority of the season. Except for a disastrous performance against the Raiders in Week 16, he was outstanding the entire season. With everything on the line in the playoffs, he played his finest football and won another ring.
More than any other interior linebacker, Jones recorded 91 quarterback pressures, including the Super Bowl run. As one of the most effective pass rushers in the league, he has a real talent for pulling off huge plays when the chips are down. He knows just when to use his best moves or edge alignments for crucial third downs or game-changing circumstances.
Against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, the second-year cornerback enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career with the Chiefs. This season, McDuffie mostly shifted to the slot, which gave him greater control over more aspects of the game. He has five forced fumbles and nineteen quarterback pressures on the blitz, including the postseason.
Travis Kelce had a rough start to the season and made more uncharacteristic mistakes than you would expect, but he was still able to step it up when it counted most, and he played a significant role in the team’s journey to and victory in another Super Bowl. Through the postseason, Kelce caught 125 passes and was nearly difficult to stop.
As a member of one of the finest defenses in the league this season, Sneed kept a virtual who’s who of elite wideouts quiet. Throughout the regular season, Sneed allowed no more than 100 yards in coverage in any game and gave up zero receiving touchdowns.
Nick Allegretti filled in excellently, but he was unable to duplicate Thuney’s outstanding play at guard for the Chiefs. Sometimes you don’t realize a player’s influence until they are out of the lineup. Throughout the entire season, Thuney was only fined twice and gave up two sacks in 19 games.
Every minute he set foot on an NFL field; Humphrey has been among the top linemen in the game. This season, he received PFF grades of at least 74.3 in every aspect of the game. The only thing that went wrong on his tape were a few careless plays that he needs to correct in order to return to his very best marks in 2024.
