Andy Reid and Travis Kelce broke a record when they retired following their Super Bowl victories.
After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to their third Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas on Sunday, tight end Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid made an announcement indicating they would not be retiring before the next season, according to The US Sun.
Since last year, Kelce, 34, has been dating pop phenomenon Taylor Swift, 34, which has led some fans to predict that he may retire and spend the rest of his life with his partner.
However, Kelce refuted the rumors and stated that he plans to stay when asked if he would like to remain in the National Football League (NFL) for the upcoming season.
“Oh my god,” he said. “I desire that triple-double.”
Kelce’s compensation is scheduled to increase to $16.25 million in 2025, the last year of his deal with the Chiefs, from $12 million the following season.
Furthermore, Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, announced that he will not be retiring after guiding the team to Super Bowl LVIII. Reid also joked that he was annoyed that Bill Belichick had left the New England Patriots because he was always getting questioned about retiring.
In order to help the squad complete a historic three-peat in 2024, Reid, 65, who had been rumored to be retiring, stated that he would return for the following season.
Reid told reporters, “I haven’t had time to think about it, but certainly, absolutely.”
Reid went on to quip that he was “angry” with senior coaches Belichick and Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks for their recent resignations.
Reid remarked, “I’m upset with Belichick and Pete because they’re asking me all those things now.”
During a press conference on Monday following the Super Bowl, Reid declared his position.
“I haven’t given retiring a second thought,” he declared. “People are always inquiring. Actually, I haven’t been there. I haven’t given it much thought.
