“It’s years and years of decisions or poor decisions which have culminated in a situation where several managers have now left and Paul Cook has joined those managers,” he claims.
“That takes time to fix, and I guess Paul Cook was hoping to have more time and he hasn’t, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens next.”
“But I think a lot of us expected the time to be given to him to make that teamwork,” Mr. Woodward, host of the Blue Monday podcast, adds.
“The trouble is that the results, the performances, have started to deteriorate of late.”

He believes that Cook should have been given more time, but nonetheless, he describes the choice as a “demonstration of the club’s American owners and their investment being so significant”.
In reference to his successor, he states that following the brief tenure of Paul Hurst and the two and a half years of Paul Lambert, his initial thought was, “Please, no more Paul’s”.

Marcus Stewart, a former striker for Town, supports John McGreal, the interim manager.
Marcus Stewart, a former striker for Town who led the team in scoring in 2000–01 when they finished fifth in the Premier League, says he was “shocked” to hear the news.
“When I’ve watched the games, I’ve seen a bit of progress and I know the last nine games haven’t been brilliant, two wins in those games, but that happens sometimes in football,” he continues.
“Ipswich expect to be up there,” he continues. Despite being in 11th place right now, they can still make it to the playoffs with a strong run and the approaching Christmas season.”
Stewart believes that McGreal, his former teammate, is the front-runner for the manager’s position in the long run. McGreal led Colchester United to the League Two play-off semifinals during his four years in that role before spending a very brief time at Swindon Town earlier this year.
“He has got a great track record of bringing young lads through and success – someone like him would be perfect,” declares Stewart.
