the Ipswich Town head coach publicly praised his star player following their victorious match highlighting his …..

After a challenging first half on the road against Plymouth Argyle, Kieran McKenna was happy with the way his team maintained their flair.

The Blues appeared to struggle in difficult circumstances and on a very heavy field, which made it difficult for them to gain any momentum during a period of stop-start play while their opponents pressed hard.

Nevertheless, they remained true to their beliefs, and it paid off as they won 2-0 at Home Park thanks to goals from Kieffer Moore and Brendan Galloway.

“Everything about the performance was really good,” McKenna remarked following the match. “I thought we had excellent discipline, a strong sense of organization, and fierce competition. We gained a strong advantage over the opposition by winning more of our fair share of challenges.

We knew it was going to be tough in the first half. We were aware that we would have to contend with a very intense home crowd and challenging weather and pitch conditions.

We executed that incredibly effectively, and if we continued to play the right way and to minimize their threats, we had a strong foundation at the half to know that we could and would continue to advance. We were aware that we would have opportunities, and we took advantage of a few to put on an excellent second half display.

“There haven’t been many games like this one lately. Plymouth played really closed with all of their kicks, and it was quite stop-start.

“We always support our style and physical prowess to show up in a game at some time. Although it wasn’t easy to bring it out in the first half, we still had a few excellent build-ups across the pitch. The game’s rhythm was difficult to control.

Generally, there will be a break at some point throughout the game. At halftime, we were pretty confident that it would happen in the second half. Though the [first] goal obviously took a huge deflection, we were really starting to apply pressure on their goal and penalty area up until that moment.

East Anglian Daily Times: McKenna made a jest that Conor Chaplin would do all in his power to score the opening goal. Conor Chaplin will do all in his power to score the first goal, including “deleting all angles of the goal,” McKenna joked, but even if he fails, he will still be given credit for the assist on Moore’s confident finish inside the box for the second.

The manager protested, “It was a really good header, it shouldn’t be downplayed.” “Cameron Burgess does a fantastic job of keeping it going before Conor uses his usual cunning in the box. He is just aware of the location of the goal, the players, and the defenders. He sees incredible images in his mind, and Kieffer’s header—who smashes the ball exceptionally well—was incredibly deft.
